Food=Good Mood

If you know me, you know my life revolves heavily around food. I'm never not hungry. So this whole blog is about the food and restaurants I try, and my honest opinions about them. I asked around for a good Mexican place, and multiple people suggested Palomino's.

When I walked in to Palomino's, it looked like your typical Mexican restaurant. They added an elegant touch by placing a water fountain in the middle of the restaurant. The name of the restaurant sketched me out at first, because "palomino" is the Spanish word for horse, but I realized it's named that since there are a ton of horse paintings decorating the restaurant.

I started off with a mango margarita which sold for a reasonable price of $5 considering how large it was. It had a very strong mango flavor, which is what I expected. I would however recommend getting salt around the rim. Otherwise they will give you sugar, which made the drink too sweet in my opinion.

Our waiter brought out our chips and salsa and and asked us for our orders. He forgot our water multiple times when he came back to the table, so it made me nervous that when he took our orders he didn't write anything down. However, he did get all three of our orders correct.

Here are the steak tacos that my friend ordered. The presentation isn't the best, but the steak was cooked well. The lettuce doesn't look the freshest, but I couldn't tell when i tried it. I feel like they could have added more flavor with a sauce of some kind, but for just a tortilla, steak, lettuce and cheese, I'd give it four out of five stars.

I ordered the cheese enchiladas. From my experiences, enchiladas can never be bad. They weren't the worst enchiladas I've ever had, but they could have been better. They didn't have as much cheese in them as I would have expected, but the queso on top was to die for, so I let it slide. As you can tell from the picture, they were deformed which disappointed me. The rice was really good but the beans were flavorless, so it helped that they put cheese on them. Cheese always makes everything better. Overall, I was satisfied with this meal, and I paid $9 for it.

Behold the chicken and cheese quesadilla. It seems like they tried harder on the presentation aspect of this dish with the guacamole and sour cream display. The quesadilla itself was the size of my face, and I would say that's a pretty good deal for $9.50. The shredded chicken was slightly dry, but it tasted great with the guacamole which was very flavorful.

I would rate my experience at Palomino's four out of five stars. It would receive the full five stars if our waiter had checked on us more than just once, and if he would have refilled our drinks. The food was tasty, but with the poor presentation you can tell that they are just cranking the food out of the kitchen as fast as they can. I would, however, say that Palomino's is the best place to go for a sit-down Mexican meal, with Mexico Joe's in second place. There are not too many restaurant options in Stillwater, but I would recommend Palomino's to anyone who lives here or is visiting.
